After the Rodeway, Rat hole, and Paved Wave days we had to start creating our own places to skate. Thus was started the days of the Ramps and Ditch searches. We learned to build our own Ramps out of wood and use plywood for the surfuce. There were a few very tall ramps out in the Warrington area and a few of us built ramps where I lived in the Ensley area.

I built my own ramp around 1977 or so at the end of my parents driveway.
